Unusual names in Russia

During the Soviet era, ideologically driven names were widespread. These ranged from relatively common ones like Oktyabrina, Vladlen, or Kim (Communist Youth International), to bizarre names like Pofistal (Joseph Stalin who defeated the fascists), Kukutsapol (Corn - queen of the fields), or Dazdraperma (Long live the First of May). While names like Oktyabrina and Kim are still occasionally encountered among those born in the USSR, names like Pofistal and Kukutsapol have almost disappeared. By the way, similar names still appear today, such as Vlapunal (Vladimir Putin – our leader).
