Abdulla Nigmatovich Oripov is a statesman of Uzbekistan, Prime Minister of the Republic, and head of the State Committee on youth policy, culture, information systems, and telecommunications.

Abdulla Nigmatovich Oripov was born on May 24, 1961, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He is of Uzbek nationality and holds a higher education degree. He graduated from the Tashkent Electrotechnical Institute of Communications in 1983.

From 1983 to 1992, he worked as a first-category engineer at the Tashkent telephone-telegraph station. From 1992 to 1993, he served as a chief specialist at the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and from 1993 to 1995, he worked as a deputy director of the "O'zimpeksaloka" foreign trade firm.

In 1995, he became the head of the construction and supply department of the Ministry of Communications of Uzbekistan. From 1995 to 1996, he served as the general director of the "TashAfinalAL" joint venture. During these years, he also headed the department for privatization, demonopolization, and competition promotion at the Ministry of Communications of Uzbekistan.

In 1997, he became the head of the market reforms and securities department of the Uzbek Post and Telecommunications Agency. From 1997 to 2000, he also managed the State Fund for the Development of Post and Telecommunications.

From 2000 to 2001, he served as deputy director of the Uzbek Post and Telecommunications Agency, and from August 15, 2001, he served as general director of the agency. On May 30, 2002, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He handled issues related to communications and information-telecommunication technologies. At the same time, he was the general director of the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information.

On February 4, 2005, he was reconfirmed in his positions. From October 2009, he also handled issues related to the social sphere, science, education, healthcare, and culture, and was responsible for relations with partners in CIS countries.

From August 2012, he was removed from the post of Deputy Prime Minister, but continued to lead the Complex for Information Systems and Telecommunications.

In September 2016, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and was entrusted with issues of youth policy, culture, information systems, and telecommunications.

On December 12, 2016, he was nominated for the position of Prime Minister by Uzbekistan's ruling O'zLiDeP party.

Abdulla Oripov is married and has five daughters. He is also a Candidate of Economic Sciences. Oripov has been awarded the "Dustlik" and "Mehnat Shuhrati" orders.
