A. To'xtayev is the author of huge structures built in Tashkent and other major cities of our Republic. During the years of independence, he designed the «Aquapark», the «Business Center», the «InterContinental» hotel, the magnificent buildings of the National Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as government and other facilities built in Tashkent.
Azamat To'xtayev was born in 1946 in Tashkent into a family of theater actors. In 1964, while studying in the evening department of the Faculty of Architecture at the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute, he worked at the Uzbekistan Construction Process Organization Institute («Uzorgtekhstroy») in the workshop of the famous architect Ye. A. Zhmuida.
After graduating in 1970, he continued his career at the same institute, progressing from a simple technical architect to the position of chief project architect.
From 1980, he worked as a project architect at the Scientific Research and Design Institute for the Restoration of Cultural Monuments of Uzbekistan, and from 1983 as the chief architect of the Uzbek Experimental Artistic-Architectural Workshop.
In 1987, by order of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Uzbekistan, A. To'xtayev was appointed director of the Uzbek Experimental Scientific-Restoration Artistic-Architectural Organization (UzENRAXM).
In 1992, he moved to the «Uzbekistan Foreign Construction» firm established under the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, serving as General Director, and from 1995 to 1998, he worked as a consultant on architecture and design issues under contract at the same firm.
Since 1998, he has been leading the Union of Architects of Uzbekistan.

During this period, he designed and oversaw the construction of the «Aquapark», the «Business Center», the «InterContinental» hotel, the magnificent buildings of the National Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and other government and other facilities built in Tashkent. In 1991, he received the honorary title of «Honored Architect of the Republic of Uzbekistan».
In 1996, he was elected as an academician of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and a full member of the International Academy of Architecture of Eastern Countries. He was appointed Chairman of the State Committee for Construction and Architecture of Uzbekistan.
