Biography

Azim Suyun was born on February 22, 1948, in Quduqcha village, located at the foothills of the Nurata mountain range in the Samarkand region. He grew up and was raised under the guidance of his grandfather Suyun in the village of Nakurt. Although his father Olim was literate, he was forced to take up a shepherd's staff because he was the son of a "kulak". Young Azim, following his shepherd father, became familiar with the secrets of nature. This influenced the formation of the future poet.

"...Later I became a soldier," he writes in his autobiography, "I graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at the Tashkent State University. I worked at the Ghafur Ghulom Literature and Art Publishing House, the State Press Committee of Uzbekistan, the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, and the newspapers "Xalq So'zi" and "O'zbekiston Ovozi". Currently, I am the editor-in-chief of the "Guliston" magazine.

I became a deputy of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. I am a poet whose forehead has been brightened by Independence! I am a member of the World Academy of Culture and Art.
