Shamshod Majitovich Abdullayev (born November 1, 1957, Fergana) is an Uzbek poet, writer, and essayist who writes in Russian.
Biography
He graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Fergana Pedagogical Institute. He lives in Fergana. From 1991 to 1995, he was the head of the poetry department at the “Sharq Yulduzi” magazine.
He is the author of four books of poetry and prose. In addition, his works have been published in the following magazines: “Znamya”, “Volga”, “Rodnik”, “Chernovik”, “Vestnik Novoy Literatury”, the anthology “Liberated Ulysses (Modern Russian Poetry Outside Russia)”, and others. He is the creator of the "Fergana School" of Russian poetry (Hamdam Zakirov, Daniil Kislov, Olga Grebennikova, and others).
Being Uzbek, Abdullayev created in the Russian language, which is used as a language of intercultural communication and can reveal the mutual Eastern mentality and Western culture. In doing so, he departed from the traditions of Russian poetry, placing Central Asian and American-European creativity in opposition to each other.
